love

"the beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them." -Thomas Merton

  1. And, of course, I'm sure I do that everyday with my husband (unknowingly), and as I read that to myself just now, for the first time ever, I realized how utterly selfish that is!!! It's one of those qualities you despise in others but can't see in yourself. Do you secretly know me, and all of my weaknesses? Or, am I just weak in so many areas that it's easy to randomly hit on one? (don't answer that ;o)

  2. Okay, seriously, what is your obsession with G-Mail? Do you own stock in the company or something?

so true. i've been learning that in so many ways, as i try to really love my neighbor across the street who is not a believer. to truly love her means to love her as she is...whether or not she ever believes in Him...knowing that He died for her as she is, not as He wanted her to be. "For God so loved the world"...
Lord, please help me to love as you love.
thank you for the timely word Creth.
