interesting quotes from David Mamet on Charlie Rose

"anybody who truly loves this country (United States of America) has got to love Israel because what's the difference? it's a democracy, it has freedom for all of its citizens, has gender equality. they're in the midst of a war but so are we. is it an imperfect country? all countries are imperfect."
"never ask a guy 'what do you do for a living?' because if you think about it when you ask a guy 'what do you do for a living?' you're saying 'how may I therefor gage the rest of your utterances. are you smarter than I am? are you dumber than I am? are you richer than I am? are you poorer than I am?'"

ideas

Ricky Gervais talked about ideas in his interview with James Lipton on Inside the Actors Studio. Ricky quoted Woody Allen as saying, "the best an idea gets is when it's in your head, then it's how much you ruin it" and Ricky explained to "ruin" means the disconnect from an idea's perfect conception to our fallen expression. now none of those words are exact quotes of Gervais or Allen, they are my feeble attempts to convey their message. I think both men are making true and wise statements, greater than mere observation. also both men claim to not believe in God, He has yet to deny their existence. I believe evidenced by their statement He continues to bestow grace upon them, and love

the television.

I hate television dramas and reality programming, so that leaves me with cartoons, sports, sitcoms (dying breed) and educational television. the point I'm trying to make is that FOUR of my favorite television programs were canceled this past year! and the local sports scene couldn't excite a Whopper virgin. may the following programs rest in peace- Back to You (love Kelsey Grammer) King of the Hill (this is Texas) Boston Legal (can't get enough of William Shatner) Pushing Daisies (it was my new Ed, now it's just like Ed)

and I don't even watch this guy (Colbert) but... interesting

there is a lot to listen to, then think about in this short interview but the part that I had to hear again was when Colbert said,
"Evil exists because of the disobedience of Satan. God gave Satan, the angels and man free will. Satan used his free will and abused it by not obeying authority. Hell was created by Satan's disobedience to God and his purposeful removal from God's love, which is what hell is, removing yourself from God's love. You send yourself to hell, God does not send you there."
Dr. Z then replied, "obviously you learned well in Sunday school."
to which Colbert said, "I teach Sunday school mother-ucker"
I think I wanna be able to teach Sunday school.

Betsy Randle = Amy Matthews

have you seen the new Advil television commercial? I think the slogan goes, "I'm all Advil" anyway I saw this advertisement and for a split second I was taken back to my sophomore year in high school, maybe even Jordan Hoover's bedroom... where I watched many an episode of Boy Meets World.
see, I heard a familiar voice in that Advil "ad"
and then I saw the face

(top row, second from the left)

yep. that was Amy Matthews I saw on television, tellin' me about how she is, "all Advil" (Brett Favre is too!) so... I just thought I'd mention that

because I loved me some Boy Meets World
