place

"the inward area is the first place of loss of true Christian life, of true spirituality, and the outward sinful act is the result. If we can only get hold of this - that the internal is the basic, the external is always merely the result - it will be a tremendous starting place." -Francis A. Schaeffer

  1. This is such a good reminder! How easy it is for me, when dealing with myself or others, to try and “fix” the external. But it is the internal where the problem lies…..that is where the struggle or battle is raging. But to deal with the internal means you have to go deeper, it takes time and it can be very messy. Dealing with just the external is the easy way out….we lie to ourselves if we believe that it will “fix” the problem.

I can write it on your wall, but it might be a while before that can be done. You may want to do it yourself. Do you prefer paint or crayons?

    Have you seen the movie?

  2. It takes a slightly different perspective though. Its perspective is from Steve Saint’s view (Nate Saint’s son). So if you are more familiar with Jim Elliot, it will be a little different, but still very good.

The only thing I didn’t like about it was that they kind of jumped from when the men were killed to the wives and children living with the tribe and my question was....was there not some struggle or discussion about this? How did they get to the point of living with this tribe that had killed their husbands? Maybe they did not hesitate, I don't remember. Just left me wondering and makes me want to refresh my memories of some of the books and the events.
